Rebirth of a Sanctuary

Through breathtaking visuals, El Carmen: Rebirth of a Sanctuary takes us on a journey through time, where past and present intertwine to secure a future in which nature flourishes once more.

A film presented by Cemex

Along the border between Mexico and the United States, where the desert meets the mountains, stretches El Carmen Nature Reserve a wildlife sanctuary that has been reborn. This documentary immerses us in one of North America’s most ambitious conservation projects, where human dedication and nature’s resilience have brought a lost ecosystem back to life.

Across vast grasslands, towering canyons, and creeks, El Carmen is home to species that once roamed freely and, thanks to conservation efforts, have returned to reclaim their land. From the resurgence of the majestic bison to the presence of black bears and bighorn sheep, every image tells the story of a restored wilderness.

In this 130,000-hectare sanctuary, the struggle for survival is relentless, but so is hope. Through breathtaking visuals, El Carmen: Rebirth of a Sanctuary takes us on a journey through time, where past and present intertwine to secure a future in which nature flourishes once more.
